Windows of Listening

The purpose of my project is to create a link among natural soundscapes from field recording, bioacoustic and acousmatic composition, looking forward new perspectives for composing that generate awareness from the relationship between humans and other living beings inside a period of ecological fragility. It will be based in the comparative analysis of my latest three acousmatic pieces named Natural Mutations, Windows of listening and Chorus from the dawn.
As a composer and field recordist, my work accomplishes a dialogue from both perspectives concerning to scientific studies about the disappearing voices in nature. My point of the departure are these questions, What do we perceive when we listen into the natural world? Which is the role of a soundscape composer and a field recordist inside the listening of a natural soundscape? Does immersive listening can help us to understand the complex layers of natural soundscape surround us, and the fast velocity that humans are modifying the acoustic niches? The methodology will focus in the discussion of philosophical implications from phenomenology, field recording experiences and soundscape composition tradition to open up new modes of thinking and listening into the natural world. The main goal is to assume artistic research as an action tool to promote human ecological responsibility in relation to other living beings. My artistic research achieves to understand sounding natural world as a living and changing acoustic phenomenon, and to perceive it as an aesthetic experience to create new imaginary worlds that integrate nature and humans on equal terms.
